The story

La Plagne's track was built above the Tarentaise valley between 1988 and 1990 for the 1992 Albertville Olympics, where it held the bobsleigh and luge events. It is France's only sliding track. With 19 curves it is long and technical for bobs, and it staged skeleton at the 1993 World Championships. It will return to the Olympics in 2030, when the French Alps host the Winter Games.

  • It switched its cooling from ammonia to glycol in 2006 or 2007; the IOC calls it the first track to make that change.
  • The four-man track record of 57.31 s dates from 1998.
  • Tourist bob rides have run on the track since the 1992 Games.

Today

A glycol-cooled concrete track of 19 curves, falling from 1,684 m to 1,559 m, that also offers tourist bob rides.
