The story

Luge in the Kremenets hills goes back to the interwar years, when the area was in Poland and the first run was dug into the slope. The run was rebuilt several times in the Soviet era. The present wooden chute, 1,000 m long, was built in the early 2000s with support from the FIL and Ukraine's sports ministry. It closed after a pupil of the local sports school died in an accident on the track in May 2023.

  • There is no lift: athletes carry their sleds back up the hill.
  • A summer roller-luge cup, the Kubok Bony, was held here for about 20 years.
  • Ihor Hoi, born in Kremenets, raced luge at the 2026 Olympics.

Today

The wooden track still stands but is in an emergency state, with rotten boards, unfinished curves and plants growing beneath it.
