Ilmenau's bob run on the Lindenberg opened with a race on 9 January 1927, after an earlier toboggan run had been used from 1909 to 1923. An electric lift, already described in December 1926, carried sleds back up. It hosted the European luge championships in 1934. In 1989, in East German times, the town gained a new track, now named after Wolfram Fiedler, about 750 m east of the old finish.
- An electric sled lift was already described in a newspaper in December 1926, before the first race.
- The old club hut lives on as a restaurant called the Bobhütte.
Today
The 1926 club hut is now the Bobhütte mountain inn, and a hiking trail follows the old runs.
