Built between 1961 and 1963 alongside a separate luge run, with Paul Aste as local site manager, this concrete bobsleigh track at Igls used natural ice. Its first big event, the 1963 World Championships, brought twenty injuries. A year later it hosted the bobsleigh events of the 1964 Innsbruck Winter Olympics, and European Championships followed until 1971. A combined refrigerated track, built for the 1976 Games, took its place.
