Yugoslavia built this concrete track on Mount Trebević, above Sarajevo, between June 1981 and September 1982 for the 1984 Winter Olympics. It hosted bobsleigh and luge at the Games, bobsleigh European Championships in 1983 and 1988, skeleton European Championships in 1985 and 1987, and World Cup races until December 1990. The war closed it in 1992; during the siege the track was damaged and, by most accounts, used as an artillery position, and the slopes around it were mined.
- During the siege of Sarajevo the Olympic track was, by most accounts, used as an artillery position.
- Volunteers began clearing it in 2014 after demining, and athletes now train on it in summer, though graffiti still covers its walls.
- In 2025 a trail of 13 panels with QR codes was set up along the track to tell its Olympic story.
Today
The concrete channel still winds down the mountain with war damage in a late curve, while the start houses and refrigeration plant are gone. A tour company advertises guided luge-sled rides on a 200 m section.
