The story

A luge run on Ještěd, the mountain above Liberec, known in German as the Jeschken, opened on 12 December 1909. It hosted the European Luge Championships in 1914, when the city lay in Austria-Hungary, and again in 1939, when women's luge was also on the programme. Rebuilt in 1955 as a shorter course for racing only, it fell into neglect from 1987.

  • It hosted the European Luge Championships twice, 25 years apart.

Today

Most of the remains were removed in 2011, though some of the supporting structure survives.
