Opened on Christmas Day 1930, this run on Mt. Van Hoevenberg was the bobsleigh track of the 1932 Winter Olympics. It first ran 2,366 m, but after the Games the upper section, including the Whiteface hairpin, was cut away. In 1949 it staged the first bobsleigh World Championships held outside Europe, and it hosted the Worlds again up to 1978. Three men were killed on the run, in 1949, 1955 and 1966.
- The original course dropped 228 m, through 26 curves by the 1932 official report's count.
- The 1949 World Championships here were the first held outside Europe.
- The run was added to the National Register of Historic Places on 4 February 2010.
Today
