Built in 1909 and opened in 1910, the Rießersee run was extended between 1933 and 1935 and became the bobsleigh track of the 1936 Winter Olympics. It was the first track to line its curves with blocks of ice, and sleds reached about 120 km/h. It hosted bobsleigh World Championships in 1934, 1938, 1953, 1958 and 1962, the luge World Championships in 1960 and the 1966 European Championships, after which it closed.
- The curves were lined with blocks of ice.
- The restored bob shed is a free museum holding 17 historic bobs.
- In 2013 a historic race brought 13 period bobs back to the track.
