The story

The Cresta Run in St. Moritz dates from the winter of 1884/85 and is run by a private club, the St. Moritz Tobogganing Club. Riders go head-first on a toboggan, the ancestor of skeleton, down a natural ice channel rebuilt every season. It was the Olympic skeleton course in 1928 and 1948. Women were barred from 1929 until December 2018, and in 2019 Carina Evans became the first woman to ride from the Top.

  • Riders who fall at the Shuttlecock corner become members of the Shuttlecock Club.
  • The record from the Top, 49.92 s, was set by Lord Wrottesley in 2015.
  • The Church Leap passes beneath the town's Leaning Tower.
