The story

Cortina d'Ampezzo has had a bob run since 1923, and the old Eugenio Monti track hosted the 1956 Olympics before closing in 2008. It was demolished in 2023 and a new track was built in its place, following the 1923 layout through 16 curves. Work ran from February 2024 to March 2025. It opened in November 2025 and staged every sliding event of the 2026 Winter Olympics.

  • Max Langenhan set the men's luge track record of 52.924 s at the 2026 Olympics.
  • Women's doubles luge and the skeleton mixed team made their Olympic debuts here in 2026.
  • Construction took about 13 months, from February 2024 to the first test runs in March 2025.
