The story

The Olympic Sliding Centre at Alpensia, in Pyeongchang County, was built from 2014 for the 2018 Winter Olympics and tested with World Cups in the 2016/17 season. It cost about 122.8 billion won. Its 16 curves include a run of turns 9 to 12 nicknamed the Run Breaker, or Dragon's Tail. A 2025 agreement between the luge federation and local partners keeps international luge racing here until 2030.

  • The full structure was designed to be 2,018 m long, to match the year of the Games.
  • Turns 9 to 12 are nicknamed the Run Breaker, or Dragon's Tail.
  • Yun Sung-bin set the men's skeleton track record of 50.02 s in 2018.
