Races on the Bocksberg above Hahnenklee in the Harz began in 1924, on a natural-ice run whose banked curves were built from blocks of pond ice. It hosted Harz bobsleigh championships in the 1930s and, in West Germany, the 1955 European Luge Championships on a 1,500 m course. After the Bocksberg cable car opened in 1970, skiing replaced bob sport on the hill.
- Its curves were built from blocks of ice cut from local ponds.
- It hosted the 1955 European Luge Championships in men's, women's and doubles.
- After the Bocksberg cable car opened in 1970, skiing took over the hill.
Today
Ruts and built-up curves can still be made out along a forest path on the Bocksberg.
